Joyce was raised in West Memphis, Arkansas and attended Wonder High School.  She was an analyst with IBM, Memphis TN.  She is married to Basheer Alim.  She has one son, Glenn.  They now reside in Commerce, Michigan.  She is co owner of Alim Arts and Exports.  She also works for Kreations Arts.

She received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois.  She received her MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in Livonia.  She is currently working on her Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  She has been in the ministry since 1989. She is saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost.
